A good design is not enough — good execution is needed for a good building!

It is essential to prepare plans thought through to the level of construction drawings, down to the last detail, so that the original concept remains clear throughout the whole design process — but sadly, today this is no longer enough. Close cooperation must be built with the contractor or the building team, because without it the designed building will not be realised well. The architect must be present throughout construction and must help in the realisation.

The interests of the contractor and those of the architect and the client are fundamentally opposed. The contractor wants to build as quickly and as cheaply as possible. The basic interest of the architect and the client is that the building be built according to plan and to the highest quality, without construction defects. This situation usually breeds a great deal of tension and misunderstanding, so reconciling these opposing interests is a dramatic task — which is another reason why the architect's presence during construction is indispensable.
