"The Philosophy of Freedom" — a study group with eurythmy, 2026–27

Perhaps Rudolf Steiner's most important and most emblematic work, written when he was very young. In it we meet the most important, pivotal and still mysterious points of thinking. Beyond that, thinking processes that grow ever clearer can be discovered in this book. It is not enough to run through it once or twice; we can read this work step by step, slowly, in a different way. Together we can uncover ever finer, deeper layers — where we not only marvel at a new language and encounter certain processes of thought, but also come upon our own thinking, and perhaps our own obstacles to thinking. We deal not only with the content of the work but with its inner structure, its dynamics and its more hidden message, which we can reach only when the sentences come alive in us. It can enter the world of our own soul and gently transform our inner world, and our I.

Taking part in the group work calls for no special ability — perhaps only patience, and attention to ourselves and to the other at the same time. That is what we can practise here together. Through activity and by crossing borderlands, we can gain deeper spiritual experience together in a widened, wakeful presence. This experience can purify and strengthen our true I.

We set out with the preface and the fifth chapter (following on from those who finished last year). New participants are welcome to join.
